How LEGO® sizing works
- Every part lives on an 8 mm stud grid. An N-stud edge measures N × 8 mm − 0.2 mm (the small gap that lets parts clutch and release).
- A standard brick is 9.6 mm tall; a plate is 3.2 mm — exactly one third of a brick, so 3 plates stack to a brick.
- A stud is 4.8 mm across and 1.8 mm tall.
- Values are computed from the published LEGO System measurements; this is an unofficial reference and lists no products.
